Day Ten

Day Ten -- Morning:

Up @ 5 am.

One new feature I find I need now that I am not living in a time/date ordered universe is a reminder of the day of the week...  Actually, I do all right on weekends... but the sameness of the routine otherwise leads to losing track.  I've taken to writing "Today is Monday, June 11, 2001" type things on the blackboard first thing each morning.  In fact, I put it up in Spanish, English, and invite someone to do the honors in Náhuatl.  The class then chants all three together, and I am learning the word for the day of the week, the numbers, and the months in Náhuatl.  The children do still laugh at my pronunciation, but that is okay.  A teacher who is infallible is a pretty unrealistic role model.  Yesterday, Alberto wrote it.  I was sure impressed.  I think Juan put him up to it, but that's okay, too.  The only problem was that it was written so low on the board, it really interfered.
