What kind-a tree/bush is that? We had some little caterpillars like those guys that killed trees in our yard, but those were coniferous trees, which that tree/bush is obviously not. But I've seen those funny tent-dudes around in other trees in the woods, and I don't think it killed 'em dead.

SO IT'S EITHER NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, OR IT ISN'T.

Those are called bag worms, and they're seriously bad news. Aside from looking icky, they can kill an entire tree. You're going to want to look into how to get them down, or which pesticide gets rid of them.

General consensus on the internet was to cut the branch just short of the bag, and burn it. Then again, all the photos of "bagworms" looked mighty different than these pictures.

This seems to be closer.
