Recovery

Any going home recovery tips from fellow c-section mamas? Ugh. I was overly confident and pain free the other day all hooked up to the IV epidural. Umm now that I'm on the Motrin, yeah this pretty much sucks! Just dawning on me the clothes I packed to go home in won't quite work... Maternity yoga pants and semi-cute nursing tee, fitted with ruched ( Read more... )

Adorable! How are you with it enough to get such amazing photos with great light, while recovering in the hospital? You are amazing!

As for returning home with c section - I wore maternity yoga pants and a big maternity tee home, and then I just lived in nursing nightgowns for the next two weeks. I did not "bounce back" very quickly! And then I stayed in maternity clothes for a few months. Just do/wear whatever is comfortable!

He is ridiculously adorable, and so alert!

Okay, glad you have the binder. I did stairs with both sections no problem, though definitely had to take it slowly. Camp out upstairs, have Ryan get you everything you need and stay there as much as possible. I wore hospital scrub pants or large PJs most of the time, foldover waist yoga pants are good too. Seriously, wear Ryan's stuff. I crammed whatever I could over that binder. With Amelia, I LIVED in it for a good 2 weeks. With Jack, my recovery was much faster.

Did you get any stronger pain meds? I went home with a prescription with both kids. Didn't need it the second time but definitely did the first. If not, alternate the tylenol and ibuprofen. If you are having pain when you get up or feel like things "stretch", try bracing your belly with a small pillow. I even used one when I laughed or sneezed.

This. All of it. That binder was the best.

oh yes -the stomach bracing with the pillow was a lifesaver for me too (even when going to the bathroom - sorry for the tmi but it really helped with the pain!)

I will echo Linny and say I lived in large PJ pants and yoga pants with fold-over waste bands. Oh, and nursing tanks. The more you walk around (within reason), the faster you will heal. I was up and down stairs as well. I just took it easy and slow and if my incision started to hurt by the end of the day, I knew I took it a little too far. The binder was a total annoyance and did nothing for me so if you feel uncomfortable in it, don't be too afraid to stop using it. Some swear by it. But it didn't help me. And the first few days home, I needed heavier pain meds but was using OTC pain killers after with no issue.

He is just the sweetest!! Those eyes! Melt.

Oh, and don't be afraid to tell Ryan this will be different than when you brought Jimmy home. The recovery is different and for many it takes longer. He'll need to help you a lot more than he did with Jimmy. AND you have Jimmy now too so it's going to be a bit more intense. So no vaca, Ryan! ;) You up to bat, my friend!

He's soo cute, Lauren. And he looks so expressive like he is weeks old not days old.

That's sooo cute about all the love from Jimmy!

BTW, I still can't even believe you had a c-section. Crazy.
