I'll spare you all the reasons why my patience is routinely worn thin at work and show you the reason why I sometimes love it. Out of the three labs that I've worked at this is the only one where they went to some trouble to make sure that nearly every department has a beautiful view.

Gorgeous! If I were you, I would stop working for the whole time that gorgeous bird was out of my window! I so love birds!

Seriously, that has been my theory forever: work environment IS fundamental to have more and better pruductive workers. I always tried my best to have a good place in the offices i worked into.

::sheepish grin:: Honestly, I did kind of press my nose up against the window the whole time the bird was there. I see a lot of animals from time to time but that bird was really spectacular.

Absolutely. Before I worked at this lab I worked at a hospital where the department I was in was located in the basement. Our air intake was right where this big rigs would park and idle while they unloaded their shipments and we would have diesel exhaust piped right into our wee area. We'd have to drop everything, leave and wait to come back until it was cycled back out. I remember thinking that despite the hospitals stellar reputation that it was kind of a dump as far as I was concerned. Morale was frequently low. Can you imagine that I went from that to working in a park? I've been at this lab for 8 years this month and I still am amazed.
