Yes, folks, you read the subject line correctly! Has it been that long? Anyway, let's get cracking. Today, instead of a discussion, we have something I like to call a "Let Me Rec You" post. You comment with anything (author, a word in the title, genre, character, anything) and people (this means you) get to reply with one or more book/comic titles ( Read more... )

everything by Gibson. (I feel lazy, I should at least write some titles but it's seriously everything he wrote... but Neuromancer is obviously the most important one)

Fantasy in the vein of G.R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire

God do I love George R.R. Martin. I haven't read any of the knock offs, but the Kushiel Trilogy by Jacqueline Carey is full of political intrigues, and Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay puts both 'Good' and 'Evil' sides in shades of grey. Still, these are only single elements akin to the Song of Fire and Ice series, so please don't expect George R.R. Martin's long lost twin.

You might like North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, the Bridget Jones novels by Helen Fielding

You might like Georgette Heyer's books, she wrote regency romance.

You may also like a british novelist named Katie Fforde. "Life Skills" is one of my favorites. Fluff!
