Has anyone seen the film "Soldier's Girl"? I just watched it and I must say that it's brilliantly done and most recommendable. The actors are very convincing (and Lee Pace is just gorgeous as Calpernia Addams), and the story really got under my skin. It's always so horrible to learn about such things but the one thing that gives me hope is that a movie like this *did* get made and will perhaps reach more and more people so that something that horrible won't happen again.

And it's just like you said: It IS a sad story, but the important thing is that it was made into a movie so people might finally learn that there are more important things to love and relationships than gender and sexuality.

ETA: the simple fact that people cannot be content to let other people love whomever they do love without judging them makes me sad. I've watched friends suffer because of the narrowmindedness of others. I've heard terrible things yelled at people in public. I cannot for the life of me understand why some people are so interested in what goes on in other people's bedrooms. Love is love. We as a society should celebrate love no judge people who don't fit some narrow idea of acceptable families. Seriously, fuck those people and their small minded point of views.
