I make it about as recommended, my parents make it stronger. If you notice that your coffee is bitter, you may want to actually add more coffee as the bitterness comes out after the the flavor so making it stronger actually makes it less bitter.
When I was brewing regular coffee, the mix approached 1 T per cup. I also learned early that the darker the coffee blend, the less acid. Much nicer on your tummy.
