My mother and father met in high school. Well, she was in high school anyway, He, however, was a 36 year old plumber, still living with his mom. I guess Dave - that's my dad - offered my mom a ride home from school one day and, well, the rest you can guess. She was 15 ( Read more... )

That's some story! Are there any famous people of Irish descent that you particularly admire? Maybe start there.

The only one of my ancestors that was Irish, whose last name I know, was a "Casey." You can use that if you want. :-)

Casey? There's an actor named Brian Casey, also a Scorpio, born two days after myself. Coincidence? Probably so.

Let's see, how about Irish writers? Brian Joyce? Ew. Brian Beckett? Brian Binchy? Hmm, if I'm going to aliterate, I might as well go with Brian O'Brien. Brian Swift? Okay that sounds like a nursery rhyme character. Brian Wilde? No PORN names.

Hmmm, this is gonna take some looking into.

I dare you to take O'Brien as your last name. :-)

...Because, you know, I want to be able to call you "Chief O'Brien." ;-)

It's not Irish, but how about Newman?

I'd say you can have my last name, but I don't think anyone would voluntarily choose this one.

Newman as in "new man?" Hmmm. Perhaps too obvious.

I think you need to go full bore into Irishness. O'Flanerty or something.

Preach on about the redheads and glasses.

Maybe I should go one further and actually move to Ireland. Ireland is, after all, my best bet for convincing Christians to kill one another. Joking!

And yes, I shall never tire of the redhead/glasses sermon.

Someone has to say it: Smith. (I wil refrain from suggesting the middle name of "Kevin", though. ;-)

It's Scottish instead of Irish, but maybe Wallace?

Oh come on, Brian Wallace has a good ring to it. :-p

No because Wallace reminds me of William Wallace which reminds me of Braveheart which reminds me of Mel Gibson which reminds me of Passion of the Christ which reminds me that old Mel is a fundie nutjob who somehow equates spermicide with genocide.

McLean sounds cool - reminds me of Die Hard. Very masculine. :-) McGillicuddy? Considerably less masculine... especially since it was Lucy's maiden name in I Love Lucy (and God only knows how I know this.) Guiness is okay, but nothing about me really says "beer," imported or domestic.

Red-headed, Irish and with glasses, huh? Do you have an accent? (Hint: The correct answer is YES.)

No need to apologize - any accent will do really. ;-)
