it's not that funny
and these are tears not giggles

it hurts
don't you see

but you never see

I'm doing it to myself
I dont want to get off the ride
but I feel as if someone is pushing me

I'll wear myself out
and I'll wear myself thin
because the natural
and the norm
just don't seem to cut it

I'm a slow motion accident
with freight train force

a few more layeras to sleep in
a few extra minutes to organize
a little less food to make
a little more room to spread
a little less laundry to do
a few more numbers to dial
a few more miles to home

it takes time

close my eyes and watch the world go by
today I shall be nowhere
today I shall not be here

I'll slowly fade out into darkness
gradually becoming some part of the blurry background
that no one really sees
no one really notices
until I emerge from the shadows
you won't know me
and it'll be a new day
