After 4 weeks, I finally got my computer back from Best Buy, where they've been 'fixing' it. They replaced everything from the hinge up and, while it's nice to have a half-new computer, it wouldn't have killed them to save the gefilte fish that was on the top of the machine when I brought it in. Today I woke up and mowed the yard, changed a diaper or two, and went with Wendy to lunch with a friend who's in town for the summer. After lunch, Wendy went to a baby shower and I went home. My month-old son Joseph has a major flaw, and it's really bothering me. See, his nose is just the right consistency (not too soft, not too hard) that it begs to be chewed on. Unfortunately, the design of his face precludes such action. I find this mighty bothersome ( Read more... )

Wendy, Joseph, and I just got home from the hospital a few hours ago. Wendy and I were discharged yesterday, and we came home hoping to be able to pick up our little munchkin (I can feel his adolescent self cringing) the following day. Joseph is off of the IV, and in the "intermediate" unit, which is a step in the right direction. He's still not eating well, however, and he's also gotten a bit jaundiced. Because of the jaundice he's under what amounts to a black light with some extra ultraviolet. We've joked that he looks like he's either sunbathing because of the pad they put ( Read more... )

Joseph's still got a feeding tube and an IV, but Wendy breast fed him tonight and, for the first time, he really latched well. Like 15 minutes worth. It was sooooooo worth the effort. We're both mightily excited ( Read more... )

Wendy got a c-section at 4:07pm on April 17, 2008. I was scared half to death, but everything turned out ok, and I even got to see Wendy's internal organs, so that was really cool. Joseph's a bit on the small side right now, at 5 lbs 8oz, but he's really really cute (even if his teenage self will likely not appreciate me calling him that). He had a ( Read more... )

Wendy just got an epidural, and now she's snoozing. They're starting
her on magnesium sulfate as I type. They may need to perform a c-section,
but they're giving her time to try normal birth first. We'll see what
happens.
