Far Too Many Things (or) When They Come, They Come at Once - They're Coming

May 15, 2008 09:59

I have a lot on my mind right now.

And in this case, I think "on" is actually the right preposition to use.

Normally, when someone says she has "a lot on her mind," she means that she has a lot in her mind - that her brain is full of thoughts and ideas, or anxieties, or unaccomplished tasks.  I have little to worry me right now, and the inside of my ( Read more... )

In regards to Oberlin, there is a quote from B5 that I love and that seems very appropriate ( ... )

I miss you too! I went to see Sarah Pagni in New York last weekend and we talked about you. Do you have the telephone? Shall we talk for real like actual people? I realize that you are getting married and I somehow missed this and that I haven't heard your voice in three years. So yeah! Let's... fix that.

We'll (mikethomasmaxsara'nI) see you in Oberlin! The group from my house will be getting in sometime Saturday early afternoon.

Also: The person who cited the G'kar quotation is totally awesome. I'm waiting impatiently for our netflix cue to proceed beyond mid-season two of B5. (oh, the sci-fi of my childhood.)

Sorry to hear about Frankenfoot. Call it a horribly painful lesson in proper sockwear learned? Congrats on 6.5 miles though!

Thanks! 6.5 was awesome. And by awesome I actually also mean boring. Because after about 35 minutes of sustained running, you really run out of stuff to think about or music you haven't listened to, and I was too busy trying to to fall off the treadmill to tinker with the mp3 player. For the half-marathon I am going to have to buy books on tape. Seriously. 2 hours is a movie, for heaven's sake.

When I think of Oberlin, I think of you. And everyone. And in many ways, part of the pain of going back is that not everyone is there. That we can't all come back, and that it won't ever be those times again. I realized when I went back last commencement that in many ways I'd come back to say goodbye. My first year out had a definate period of mourning to it.

And now I've committed to five more years in the South. I had every intention of getting back North to be closer to all you folks. I keep finding situations in places far away from the people I love and miss. And I suck at keeping in touch.
It's good to hear from you. I'm sorry your foot rebelled... 6.5 is far farther than I ever managed to run. Best of luck with your training.

I have this thing in the South called "Family..." I'm sure I'll get around to visiting you there! I need to be on LJ much more often - I miss a ton of these comments because I'm in my work coma.

Yeah, if only the good parts of college continued forever - living in a big house with all your friends and paying $5.00 for dinner!

Me too! I can't wait to see you. It'll be like senior week - only I'll only be drinking and living at the Feve for four days instead of seven...

When I read your comment, I thought, "wait, was there anything funny in that entry?" And then I remembered my caffeine-enabled rant on footwear. Yeeeaaaah....

I'm glad you liked it.
