[What WHAT what what?! Police force?! This woman is throwing crazy law-abiding talk around in highly suspect ways. Certainly he cannot let this escape any commentary.]

Police force! It is an incomparable and strenuous and fabulous idea, darling! I highly approve, me!

[ would it help her cause if she told him she just wants a group of people to make sure the village is safe? not really police in the form of jails, just protection. ]

Even a small village needs to know there's a group of people looking out for their safety.

[Nooooo probably not, considering he spends a fair share of time robbing and marauding in that very village.]

Agreed. You never know when a certain class of person will move in and make things unsafe for all, do you, Ms. Forbes. But--forgive me---I should call you Sheriff, no?

Not a police force as such, but there's a militia that pretty much keeps the peace around here.

[He pauses for a moment, before deciding to introduce himself.]

I'm Adell. Captain of the Blue Rogues. I lead that militia.

That sounds like just the thing I'd be interested in. What sort of qualifications does your group have?

[ sorry, adell. it's good to have a name, but liz doesn't do pleasantries well. ]

Well, a willingness to protect people in the face of adversity, being able to attend meetings when they're called, and generally following orders. Obviously, we're also interested in only keeping people of upright character in our group as well.

[The qualifications aren't hard.]

We're generally informal, but we're around when people need us.

I'd like to say I qualify for all of those. Do you meet on a set schedule or just as needed?

You're correct, you don't have to spell it out. [Draco never knows when to leave sleeping dogs to lie, does he.]

Why a police force?

Just like you don't need to be rude. [ all the controlled anger. ]

If this town doesn't already have people dedicated to its protection, it needs them.

I wouldn't consider it rude, more like stating fact.

It has a few people. I'm surprised they're not all tripping over themselves to volunteer.

Doesn't necessarily make it less rude, especially depending on tone of voice.

And what makes you say that? [ not. helping. ]

[No, Old Lady Forbes. You are not worth the effort it would take to have a proper conversation. But information is fascinating stuff. Hisoka might be watching this entry just to see what kind of information senility can make a person spill out.]

[Too bad Tsuzuki has no idea they're having such a tense relationship. He peeks over Hisoka's shoulder, talking a little too loudly.]

What are you watching?

We've had discussions of police forces on and off for a while, now. There are peacekeeping forces...the Blue Rogues and Brave Vesperia, although the last I heard they were going through some changes.

...however, a proper police force has never stuck. It tends to sit wrong with people, in a way. Having two laws to follow in place of one, two authorities to answer to.

Peacekeeping forces might be more of what I'm getting at. You're probably right about the laws, though, especially when you take into consideration the variations each... world- [ that is still the weirdest thing to say. ] -may have.

Strangely enough, those are the things that no one does seem to take into consideration. Or at least, they're something very few of us have ever tried to address.

Don't harrass or attack anyone, seems to be the watch words of Luceti.

Assuming every world has the same laws is like assuming every state has the same set, too. If you go in expecting one form of punishment from all fifty states, you'll be surprised.

I think, for now at least, that might be the only set that can be enforced without a riot.
