It's slightly chilly out in New York right now with light rain---typical San Francisco weather. My favorite kind of weather. It makes me intensely miss SF.

Super famous people who are interested in (and know all about) underground art/music/film:

David Bowie
Bjork
David Letterman (to some extent)

Who else? I know there's more. Bjork and Bowie are the obvious ones: progressive artists who somehow got really famous and were able to make underground ideas into pop without much compromise.

One of the biggest problems with art criticism is that people assume style is chosen. For instance "Edward Munch painted his painting in such a way to convey his depression." Megan Kelso's new strip for The New York Times Magazine starts this Sunday...you guys should all check it out! I'm working as Megan's assistant on the strip, and what I've seen so far looks really great.
