Life has had a great number of ups and downs over the last several months.  My grandfather passed away on June 11th.  It was the first time I have ever lost someone I was close with.  I'd get into the trap of thinking of all the things he wouldn't get to see happen (like me getting married, having kids, etc.) and I would just get so sad.  Anytime I ( Read more... )

My grandfather fell and broke his hip yesterday.  They did surgery to put a pin in place earlier this afternoon, however since then he has not woken up from surgery.  He's not in a coma, however he's unresponsive and has a fever that has slowly but steadily been climbing.  They think that his body has been unable to fully expel the anesthesia.  I ( Read more... )

I've been busy lately (I know, so what else is new).  Let me just say that being at school for almost 11 hours on a Friday and 14 hours on a Saturday stinks.  The only good thing is that I don't have class tomorrow, although unfortunately I have to go meet this kid from my class (argh) so I still need to go to campus.

I am SO frustrated.  I never have time to play piano or viola (who ever thought I'd be wanting to play viola?  but I've been missing it like nobody's business).  All I do is work.  I'm so SICK of this.  will i ever get my life back?  ARGH!!!

throwing up at 4:30 in the morning....someone please remind me not to have pets.....or kids.  i've been dog- and cat-sitting since Friday and cannot WAIT to go back to my house in Wilkinsburg on Wednesday morning.  only 30 more hours.....

Semester is finally over, thank God.  This summer was just a rough one; I felt like I really couldn't get settled in to the classes and it was just a struggle over all.  Grade-wise I think I did fine, I just feel like I didn't get as much out of it all as I could have ( Read more... )

Well, they just announced the tuition rates for this school year with out-of-state tuition increasing over $700 per term.  What was I thinking coming here?

I was just going through an online discussion from the class that I TA.  Among other things, they had discussed diversity and the impact of September 11th and how the one plane crash happened just an hour and a half outside of Pittsburgh in Shanksville, PA.  I can't believe that that was almost six years ago.  I so clearly remember walking into ( Read more... )
