Today was spent putting in more volunteer hours at the Crucible. The first part of the day was spent painting signboards and the second part of the day was spent breaking up old iron pipes into potato chip size chunks for the fire and light festival. Here are some of the projects I did at glass camp last week. None of them are masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination, but I didn’t go there to make master works, I went there to learn the process. With time and practice I hope to get better. As some of you may know I work for a county health department, so guess what today is all about? If you guessed swine flu, you guessed right. Here’s hoping that this thing doesn’t mutate into a real nasty, because that would such on a lot of levels.

Here are some pictures of things that caught our attention today. We went down by the wharf, which is where the pink pig with the hard hat lives, and then we went to the Fremont district, where you can find a troll, a rocket ship, and comrade Lenin. About 6 to 8 months ago I started to have a change of attitude in regards to running programs and doing volunteer projects. At first I thought it was just a delayed case of burnout, so I just sucked it up, and soldiered on, but as time went by my feeling didn’t change.
