I never really thought I would have to leave here, but that's what happens when you have more than just yourself to think about I guess. Fran has gotten a job there, and I was unsuccessful in getting a job here, so we have to go. Our tentative move is August 1. Bye bye UP.

Most of you know that I pretty much think summer is the worst season ever. I am ready for this summer to be over already. My dog has been sprayed by a skunk twice in the last three weeks, and no matter how many times she is washed, she still smells. Well, yet another food scare has surfaced in the news. This time the lowly tomato. An outbreak of Salmonella has been found in this fruit and it is unclear what tomatoes, where it came from, etc. It is pretty much nation-wide anti-tomato. Many fast food restaurants have taken tomatoes off their burgers, salads, etc. Some grocery stores are removing ( Read more... )

Friday was once again my annual (and final) tree delivery trip to UW-Madison. This time Fran went with me. The trip was pretty uneventful, just one near deer collision. It's a non-fiction work that discusses what might happen to Earth if/when humans disappear, what will stick around, what will break down, what will it look like.
