Recently, Tim and I bought a copy of "War Slang" and he's had a jolly old time with it. Well today on the B3ta newsletter was a link to a site advocating "Talk Like a Pilot Day" complete with dictionary and suggested uses, such as "MAYDAY" to order another beer.  ;P  Also on a linked site is this list of airman sign language.  Fun stuff!

Lamarck died today. He was more badly injured than we first thought, and he fought so hard to live but he just gave up today. I'd like to say I took it in stride but I'm actually pretty saddened by this. I feel like I let him down-- that I prolonged his suffering by trying to keep him alive. Looks like work is underway for the 2008 release of "The Frog Princess," which will be the first Disney "Princess" type film with an African American main character.

So, hellocobweb and I have been listening to Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife by Mary Roach and have just finished the chapter on hallucinations caused by sound waves. Apparently, sounds at 19 hz can, in some individuals, cause hallucinations and feelings of unease.
