BUILD and Family
I was out of town all last week attending the Microsoft BUILD conference. Microsoft announced Windows 8, Windows 8 Server, DirectX 11.1, Metro style apps, .NET Framework 4.5, Xbox LIVE for Windows 8, and about a dozen other things. 10 Years
This week is total "9/11" overload. It's like Giuliani running for the presidental nomination... There's been retrospectives on every form of media all week. I watched the NOVA on Rebuilding Ground Zero, listened to some of the NPR stories, read a few editorials, etc. I half expected to see the Food Network run a special on how our taste in cheese ( Read more... ) -
Road Trip
We went on our first road trip with the Chase: a one-night stay in Portland to attend a party for one of DrB's school friends. Other than feeling like we packed for the Donner Party, it went pretty smoothly. Chase slept until we stopped in Centralia for lunch, starting to fuss just as we pulled in to stop. PAX Romana
Friday and Saturday evening I volunteered at PAX helping with the Pathfinder RPG demos-- thelesuit asked nicely, so why not? cuddlyeconomist and Professor X hung out at the Wizards of the Coast RPGA HQ helping our friend Denise out. Back to work
Eased back into work this past week, and getting ready for the Gamefest conference this Monday & Tuesday--I'm just giving 1 talk which is a lot less work than the past few years. Rhys was at Harry Potter CampWizard Week at Camp Colman all week, so it was a pretty quiet time overall. Professor X is doing well, and DrB is pretty much fully recovered ( Read more... ) -
Parental Leave Week 3
The week has been a bit of a blur. Lots of various things trying to entertain the Rhyser this week, and getting him ready to send off to thye Harry Potter sleep-away camp that started today: several trips to area parks, the extremely silly yet surprisingly fun Smurfs movie, and playing with some kids in the neighborhood. Parental Leave Week 2
This week Rhys was at the Seattle Aquarium for camp, which is a bit more of a pain to get to since it's on the waterfront, there's tons of construction and congestion on all routes from West Seattle, and parking is crap. He enjoys it, but it doesn't run him around physically enough to keep him calm and centered in the evenings. Professor X has been ( Read more... ) -
Parental Leave
The first week of leave was spent mostly trying to get into the swing of things with Professor X in the house. Rhys went to a day camp, and DrB and I tried to catch up on rest with the reprieve from the 8 year old whirlwind. We ventured out about every other day. Project Xerxes Update
Chase was pretty good for us overnight at Swedish. We had to feed him every 2-3 hours and changed him a couple times, but he would fall right back asleep and we managed to get some decent rest.
