My First Matchplay Round
This is a fun tournament format! I was very excited for today's Bay Area Matchplay matchup against Robin Levin. We ate green chile chicken and played Scrabble at my house. Tournament Yesterday
I won the tournament yesterday, hurray! I think I made fewer mistakes than I ever have in a tournament, though perhaps readers will disillusion me. Games are on my cross-tables page in a disorganized fashion, since the tournament results haven't been uploaded yet. Game numbers are 10423-10428. The game against Kenji was absurd. My Least Favorite Plays From Reno
Yesterday's plays I found pretty interesting, even if they weren't all best. In most of them, I felt like I was thinking in a different way than I often do, even if the plays weren't optimal. I thoroughly enjoyed JD's CO category-wise tournament report, so I am going to do the same for Reno, and probably for later tournaments also. I will do the same four categories of five plays that JD did: good plays, bad plays, good games, and toughest decisions, but I think a 5x5 would be more fun. Reno!
Reno was a fun time! I wasn't sure I was going to go but then decided to at the last minute. I stayed with Kenji, which is always fun. Especially good was when Rafi, Ed and Nigel accompanied us to Kenji's house, and we ate fried rice, had some good laughs, looked at Scrabble games, argued and watched stupid YouTube. Game From Last Night's Club
Last night I played at the Lake Oswego club. Besides this game, there were other games of some interest, but this one was the most fun. Also, I did something silly against PK.
