persistant or foolishly pigheaded?

I'm going to say a lot of stuff people have been too afraid to say for whatever reason. I'm not putting anyone down and I like the people I might end up mentioning but there are some things that are relevant to this post and I'm going to speak freely, as everyone should ( Read more... )

Bah, Peter always plays the same stuff because people always request the same stuff, as a quick look on the request list on any friday night easily demonstrates. I no longer see the point of going out to listen to music, now I just do it to get wasted. If I want to listen to the same old stuff I already know, I'll stay home and let DJ iTunes spin, and so going out has become more of a "I'll get fucking wasted to forget I'm in a goth club" kinda thing.

At this point, I think it's more interesting to check out new places, regardless of musical style, so I can be someplace where I don't know all the songs and don't have to recognize any faces or say hello to any insignificant socialites with an inflated sense of self-importance. You know, a place where I can just relax and have a beer, simply.

it's true that requests don't change very much at all. there's that girl that always wants wumpscut but will ask you when WHILE you're playing a wumpscut track, there are the big bald guys who only want rammstein, etc, etc.

i'll come along and try out one of these new places with you if you promise not to threaten the lives of anyone on the way home. ;P well, it IS kind of entertaining so it's okay. threaten away! but yeah, let me know and i'll tag along. :)

Sure, we haven't grabbed a beer in a little while. Sometime along the next week good with you?

And hey, the evening's not over til I'm yelling at strangers on the street and you're buying Gatorade in anticipation of a major headache.

I second ‘s comment: “Bah, Peter always plays the same stuff because people always request the same stuff, as a quick look on the request list on any friday night easily demonstrates”. I would like to add that no one is actually listening to music or buying music anymore. Basically, no one checks out new or old albums they missed out on and simply want to hear the same tracks at clubs. Therefore, one should not blame Peter for the audience’s blatant monotony.

I’m not stating that everyone should become a music geek, but damn it some interest would surely make a difference in terms of what is spun at clubs!

For you my dear, something with Claude and Sly sounds great!

The Claude/SLY thing was a hypothetical thing. I tend to relate to those two more than to other djs.

I totally agree with what Ben said, too. It's something we all face when spinning in this scene. The key is to know what to do with said requests, I guess. :)

While this post is quite valid, there's a little amount of View Askew I think. I'll give it to you as the observant-musically-enclined-occasional-club-goer that I am ( ... )
