My Day of "Writing"

I get up.  Let the dog out, make coffee. Check.

Watch the news as I drink my coffee.  Republicans are still a clown car.  Rush Limbaugh is still a jerk.  Check.

Get dressed.  Wash face, comb hair. Check.

Feed the dog and make my own breakfast:  He gets kibble, I get cereal and laugh to myself about the similarities in our foods' appearance.

Not totally related to your problem, but have you seen the Youtube video of the British woman whose doctor tells her she's got "Age Onset Attention Deficit Disorder" or some such, and it goes through how she spends a day? This just made me think of it, even though your problem wasn't forgetting what you were doing, but rather people interrupting you...

What Logan said. Six pages is still progress, even if it's not as fast as you wanted. But if you're really looking for less interrupted writing, put the phone on mute or let it go to voicemail, until you get to a good stopping point.

Let your phone calls go to voice mail. If you were working outside the home, that's what they would do, right?

I have a friend who is a professional author. His first book took a long time just because of things like this.

On the other hand, turn off the phone. Turn off the internet, and write. :)
