[Drabble] Time Slip Jung Yunho [6/?]

6.

Just as he grabbed the reins and was about to mount his horse, Jung Yunho blocked his way, cornering Kyungtak between the wet man and his horse.

"What do you want?" Kyungtak hisses in annoyance. Apparently this idiot wanted to take another dip in the water, but he has no time. All the nobles were summoned to the palace and the other's were already on their horses, galloping away.

"I'm sorry," Yunho apologizes. Kyungtak wanted to roll his eyes in frustration. This man just doesn't seem to understand-!

"Could you please just stop-"

"I didn't mean to offend you that time," Yunho interrupts. Kyungtak scowls but a bead of water distracts him as it slides down Yunho's neck into the folds of his wet cheogori. Yunho takes advantage of the other man's passive silence and continues, "I just wanted to make sure you were alright. I wasn't making fun of you for not being able to defend your fiance."

This gets Kyungtak's attention and he demands, "What were your intentions then? To ridicule me in front of His Excellency? To make a laughing stock out of me in front of all the nobles? To comfort me?"

"You won't believe me, but it was to comfort you," Yunho says. Kyungtak scoffs. "No, I'm serious. It doesn't matter to me whether you are the son of a concubine or not. I grew up with Christianity. So-"

"Shut your mouth!" Kyungtak hushes and looks around worriedly. "You can't speak of that here!"

"What, Christ-"

"What did I just say?" Kyungtak yells in a whisper, pressing his hand against the ignorant one's mouth to shut him up. He looks around and it didn't seem as though anyone was paying them any mind. "You cannot speak of such things in public, especially not if any of His Excellency's people are around. Do you understand?"

Kyungtak waits for some sort of answer, still looking around for any possible eavesdroppers.

"Well?" Kyungtak asks in frustration after a moment of silence. There was a muffled response and something moving against his hand. Kyungtak looks back at the man and realizes with fierce embarrassment that his hand was still pressed against the other's mouth. That something fluttering against the palm of his hand were Yunho's lips. They were soft and very much unlike his own chapped--Kyungtak quickly removes his hand.

"Well?" Kyungtak asks again.

"I understand," Yunho says, seemingly amused.

"If that's the case, I must go," Kyungtak says, pushing the taller man away and mounting his horse in one swift movement. He pauses and struggles with his words. "Do…do you really believe that everyone's equal? Commoners, nobles...even kings?"

"I just said I did, didn't I?" Yunho chuckles. He looks up at Kyungtak as though he had more to say but then shook his head. "You have somewhere to go."

"I--" want to know more about Christianity.

"I know, but remember, we can't talk about that in public," Yunho says with a glint of mischief.

Kyungtak doesn't respond but he couldn't fight the smile that crept onto his face. Yunho's eyes widened and his mouth gaped almost comically. Kyungtak pulls on the reins and spurs his horse on, riding away. He spurs his horse on even faster, trying to get as far away as possible, because Kyungtak would rather die than let Yunho see the red that settled on his cheeks. But his good mood was cemented. Not even Dae Gyun's mocking insults shook him the slightest.

After being embarrassed so many times today, it had been gratifying to see the brazen Jung Yunho speechless.
