She was trying to describe him to me, how short his hair was, what he was wearing, but I couldn't figure out who she meant. There was no school today because of Veteran's Day, so I was able to wake up this morning with no alarm. I really like doing this because I feel well-rested. I don't have to force my eyes open, drag myself to the shower, and then rush out the door to deal with my First Block class. I think that it was really classy of John Kerry to concede before all of the Ohio votes were counted. He knew he couldn't win, and instead of dragging the election out like Gore did, he just stepped back graciously. I think that's awesome. This week is testing week at Hughes -- the most-despised and mysterious Practice Ohio Graduation Test (OGT). The kids take one test per day, and they spend all morning on each section. That's 2.5 hours of taking a standardized exam every day this week. I have to give them credit for sticking it out. I would even get antsy doing that much testing. ( Read more... )
