I had planned to have some friends over to visit the beach and then to stay for a play party. I've never hosted a play party, and in fact, I have a spotty track record at hosting events be they kinky or vanilla

Good on you for trying to host a play party. Something similar happened to me a few years back, i was a host in a vanilla chatroom and invited people over for a bbq. Originally i had over 30 people coming, but then it dwindled down to about 2. Eventually 6 people turned up and we had a good time.

The tremendous variation in the numbers is what is hard. It could be heaps, it could be nobody. Being prepared for both is tricky.

I was very sad there was so much on. I hope you try again in a quieter month. Would have been happy to just have the bbq and chat somewhere quieter then the munches.

I guess it was the wrong time. There will be other opportunities, and I know I wasn't being slighted. Still, it's frustrating.

But you're right. Even just a BBQ and chat was good.

December is a very busy social calendar. One of the best parties I ever attended was on a MONDAY night. It was a combined end-of-year/grand opening of a factory fully catered with a live band. As a shift worker at the time I found Monday night was more likely to be free than Friday or Saturday.

In the end it worked out easier I think to have a party for just two.
