Happy Birthday Brooke ?:O) ianhmoore August 16 2006, 20:43:01 UTC
As the years pass by
By Ian H. Moore

As the years pass by
Things don't just stay the same
People come and people go
Part of life's endless game

And as the world around you changes
Your reflection changes too
Life just doesn't stay the same
No matter what you do

But as long as I have known you,
You've never been one to sit back,
You've challanged life time and again
Courage is something you don't lack

You didn't hide in a room somewhere
You got out there to explore
The sunrises of the world
And the sunsets on the shores

You've seen what few never will,
You've achieved so much so far
Yet you've never let yourself forget
Who it is you really are

As the years pass by
I can say that I've met few
Who found the courage deep inside
To follow their hearts dreams through

So on this special day
As I always seem to do,
I will wish you well in Rhyme
And wish a happy birthday to you..

Thank you. I have quite a collection of poetry now. I adore every single one.

I was just wondering the other day actually, about poets. Just over a century ago one could make a fairly respectable living as a poet. Enough to survive on. And it was an admirable career path. It doesn't seem so today. While I may not be an expert on the subject, I can't think of any famous 21st century poets. I'm sure they exist, they just don't have the celebrity status or accolades they did in the past.
Am I wrong?

I actually wouldn't know, personally I don't like to read poetry. Sure there's a poem that comes along once in a while that will catch my eye, but other then that, it's pretty boring. I'm a man of contridictions. I like acting in plays, I hate watching the damn things....

I think there just MAY be some famous 21st Century poets though, although these days, they call them "Rap Artists". I call them people who obviously can't sing so they have to talk instead..

I remember being in a really bad mood when I turned 20 because I felt so old. Now I'm a year away from 30 and I just don't care anymore! I wouldn't want to be younger either. I like the fact that I'm finally an adult. Hope you had a good birthday!

Happy Birthday. I never keep up with LJ anymore.

Will you keep up with me though? I'm kinda tired of not hearing from you. ;0)
