I need motivation
My motivation and drive seems to have escaped me. I really need to find it, because I've got several papers to write to finish up this semester (and degree!) I guess the main problem is that most of these assignments seem pointless to me, and therefore it's been difficult to put a lot of effort into doing them. Life and such
Student teaching is going decently. Not perfectly, but I've learned that few things in life are perfect. The hardest part? Getting up at 5am. Seriously. The best part? (Besides training young minds, of course!) I'm home most days by about 3pm. We'll see if that lasts. It definitely helps, because I can take a nap to help make up for all the ( Read more... ) -
Off to a good start
I read two books yesterday. Granted, they were YA books that I've read before, but they remain some of my all-time favorite books and it was a pleasure to read them again. Once I start student teaching I doubt I'll have much time to read for fun, so it felt really good to do that yesterday ( Read more... ) -

Excited!
I finally got confirmation about my student teaching placement! I start January 9th...very excited! Of course, it will be interesting to wake up at 5am again...haven't done that since high school. :-P -
A Bleak Future
Today I thought about how much harder our children are going to have it than we did. Brave Sacrifice
I just found out last night that my friend's boyfriend was one of the soldiers killed in the helicopter crash in Afghanistan in August. I hadn't talked to her since a few days before the crash (when she wished me a happy birthday), so I had no idea. I spent all of last night and most of today reading. For pleasure. It was probably the most luxurious thing I've done in a while. I finished the seventh Outlander novel, An Echo in the Bone (Diana Gabaldon). It was wonderful but ended with a cliffhanger, and I've actually caught up with the series so now I have to wait for the next book. I ( Read more... )
