Sons of the Silent Age very closely resembles its cartoon counterpart save for one key ingredient: Instead of taking place after "Exodus" (Which does not happen in the comics whatsoever due to the fact that the Shredder is human and was slain in the first few issues) it happens after an arc known as "The River", which was never animated.
