Sandy found a baby cardinal that had fallen a short distance out of its nest, just outside our front porch. Luckily, she found it about five minutes before I got home. I am so excited. I don't even know what to say, which has pretty much been the initial reaction of all the males in my family. For the females, it's been high-pitched squealing.

I'd better start making that chain mail bib immediately.
