i feel like there's something wrong with the way we treat each other, when we're all too afraid to leave our little fortresses and help those with less than ourselves, or we're too selfish to help someone out at work or too self-absorbed to get to know our neighbors. I'm just as guilty as the next, but I know and see that it is a problem. everyone's surrounded by more people than ever before, but we keep our contact to the bare minimum, and don't allow in anything that doesn't match our current worldview.

that's what i see wrong with the world. as for the movies and books, people that adhere to the constraints of their society don't make for good movies or books. they end up like everyone else, boring.
