OK, so As you all probably know, Italy won the world cup!!! I have never heard a whole city collectively cheer at the same time, but that happened in Florence when they won. It was amazing. I was at a smallish piazza near the apartment we're staying in, and there were maybe 2000 people there total (better than the 20000 that were at Piazalle ( Read more... )

Goings on in the US... hmm...

Oh! Pirates of the Caribbean smashed the previous record for opening weekend box office! Spider-Man's $114 million was the previous record... Pirates made $135 million. Crazy.

And, in more serious news, in Boston, a huge slab of ceiling tile in the Ted Williams Tunnel fell on a car and killed a woman from Jamaica Plain. The tunnel is closed and everybody's pissed and no one trusts the Big Dig again.

And the new State Constitutional Amendmant Banning Gay Marriage vote is today, I'll let you know how that goes.

And I'm so jealous you were in Italy when the World Cup was won by Los Azzures. That's something I wish I get to experience someday.

Azzuri--> that's the plural of Azzure, there's no s at the end of words in italian. And it isn't Los, it's Gli.. Cioe, Gli Azzuri!

Oh, and the State Congress voted to delay the Gay Marriage Ban vote until November. The Pro-Gay advocates wanted to ensure more 'nay' votes to once and for all (until the next time) kill the measure.
