Sirius was feeling more restless than usual and preceeded his friends to the shack. He didn't know why, but he felt the need to be nearer to Remus.

He waited.
Waited until he heard the howl of the wolf calling to him... them.
Even though he wanted to enter and help Remus when he heard the cries and whimpers that accompanied the change.
It always amazed him how Remus survived being ripped apart each month. It never seemed he could do enough.

Sirius heard the howl of the wolf, changed into Padfoot and trotted into the room.
Wolf and dog greeted each other with little growls and touching noses.

Sirius wished that one day he could touch Moony as himself.

The Wolf was Happy to see the Dog. It was Time for Greetings and then Play. He spotted the Stag as well. Sometimes, he still would like to eat the Stag, but he knew Better.

The Wolf chuffed and wondered where the little one was, the Rat.

He pushed his muzzle against the Dog's side and then hopped back. Play...Run...Time for such Things.

Padfoot barked and wagged his tail, turning to face Moony. His tail was wagging and he barked twice more, pouncing at his friend. He turned around and barked at Prongs then headed for the door of the shack.
His body language was clear. 'Let's run, play.'

The stag snorted and stomped his hoof. He waited for one of the canines to paw open the door, then followed right behind, completely forgetting about the rat. Head high, neck proud, the stag pranced towards the forest then bound into a full run, waiting for the dog and wolf to nip at his heals.

James was always excited about full moons, despite the fact of the pain one of his best mates when through, but tonight he felt something different. After his fight with Lily, a night just so with the boys would be perfect; he could get drunk later to top it off.

Sirius was absent when James finally left the Common Rooms that night, and the soon to be stag knew that Padfoot would have been the first there. Trekking to the Whomping Willow beneath his cloak, it was easy access to the know that would still the thrashing tree; there was no need for Wormtail this time. He left his Invisibility Cloak at this end rather than the far. To stay safe, he transformed as he climbed into the Shrieking Shack, anticipating an exciting night.
