Stupid flickering internet means this is running late.

Okay, it's not that I can't think of another item for my countdown list, but have difficulty choosing which one to pick. I've decided to get one of the most obvious ones out of the way....

2. Halifax Donairs and Donair Sauce Particularly

Carrie and Stephen perfected a recipe for Donair sauce when they were living out there.

It's also fun to introduce the wonders of the donair to people who come over from the UK. They love the sweet, sweet "donner" sauce.

I'd have to look if they still do it but there was a donair shop in Truro that built a thriving internet mail-order business express mailing frozen donair kits - complete with sauce - to starving Maritime expats across the country.

I just had a donair last night, in fact. Living next door to a pizza shop is... well... let's just say that when we first moved here, I ate a heaping gross load of donairs. Luckily the novelty has worn off and I can restrain myself most times.

The sauce is harder to avoid. When I know that ANY TIME, ANY TIME AT ALL I can run through the gap in the fence and exchange 75 cents for a styrofoam cup of happiness... well, let's just it's amazing what donair sauce goes with in a pinch. :) ~ Hannah

Benn bumped into an NS ex pat at work who gave us a recipe for donair sauce. We haven`t tried it yet, though.

We keep meaning to head over to the Atlantic Bar and Grill in Port Moody, which serves donairs. They don`t specifically mention donair SAUCE, but their online menu says `if you order this at midnight, it`ll be 4 am on Pizza Corner` and we feel that that is promising - any KoD reference and surely they know what they`re talking about?

I'm about to commit a huge blasphamy here. I don't like donairs. Even when I wasn't vegetarian I didn't like donairs and I really don't like donair sauce. I eat my garlic fingers with pizza sauce. (hangs head in shame) I'm sorry to call myself a Haligonian.

It took me a while to warm up to donair sauce. I wouldn`t try it for years because it looked so disgusting. I didn`t have my first donair until Sackville. But then I was hooked.

I found a recipe online for donair sauce. I now understand why it is so sweet...it has sweetened condensed milk in it! I can eat SCM by the spoonful! Disgusting, I know, but it's the equivalent to khoya in India, and I AM Indian, genetically speaking at least.

I can't judge. I have been known to eat parmesan cheese by the spoonful. And peanut butter onna spoon is a regular of mine, too.
