Better this week
I don't know why but last week was incredibly miserable for me. I was totally depressed and in tears or near tears at work all week. I was tempted to quit grad school last week, that's how bad it was. It wasn't PMS because I had just finished my period. What was it? Just a spell of depression ( Read more... ) -
the healthcare debate is slightly less depressing than my life
I could talk about my newly diagnosed case of PhD depression. But, it's far too depressing of a topic. I'm not really ready to talk about that. Instead, I want to talk about what everyone else is talking about...health care.

I think that it's amazing that women succeed as much as they do, considering that 1. some of us have pms and hate everything for about 1 week/month 2. we are judged harsher for doing the same work 3. we have babies (sometimes) and 4. we are told we probably should even go into physics because "it's too hard". What bothers me about Christianity is the fact that most of its followers don't seem to actually follow what Jesus said. He said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". He spoke way more about helping the poor than about taking rights away from gay people. So many of these people who are fighting gay marriage are spending a lot of ( Read more... ) -
good bad and ok
Good news is that I have been taking better care of myself and am doing much better. I just have to keep it up. It is the first thing to go when I get stressed, but the most important thing. I know the things I need to do to stay sane, but they are time consuming. It's worth it for my sanity/happiness though. Now I just have to keep it up. ( Read more... ) -
when will i stress less?
Probably not till I finally graduate. But there are two competing issues here: work my ass off as much as I possibly can in the near term so I can graduate sooner and move on with my life or actually try to relax and chill out so I can be a normal person again (well, sort of, as normal as I ever was) while in grad school. Yesterday I was supposed to really fly to Paris for real, second attempt after the Friday disaster. Still with American Airlines, or shall I say, Asshole Airlines. Got to the airport 2 hours early for our flight from Denver to Chicago, which was a half hour late. Then we were supposed to have a 4 hour layover in Chicago, which is already long ( Read more... ) -
Don't fly with American Airlines
Yesterday I was supposed to fly to Dallas/FW from Denver at 1pm (flight 1072), then from there to Paris. I arrived at the airport at 11am and, while checking in, was told that my flight to Dallas was delayed until 3:30pm. This would have caused me to miss my flight to Paris, but the American Airlines agent told me I should take that flight and ( Read more... )
