2011 Resolutions
A few people I know have posted their resolutions, so I thought I would follow suit, so I can track how I'm doing and get some moral support from anyone reading this as well.- First and foremost, I want to get my knitting queue and stash substantially smaller. Christmas Eve
I'm in a very Christmasy kind of mood. Adrian's presents are all wrapped and under the tree, for starters. The whole house seems to emanate an aura of joy and comfort. My orchid is growing like mad, so I can look forward to flowers in a month or two - maybe in time for my birthday. My mother got it into her mind to send Adrian and I some treats for Christmas: some Cheddar cheese and crackers, mead, and chocolates. I got the chocolates today, in a box from Amazon. The mailman dropped the box in front of me when I opened the door, but I was too excited to really care. I'd ordered my Cataclysm expansion from Amazon two weeks ( Read more... ) -
Domesticity
I have been very domestic over the last few days. The tree is trimmed, the Christmas decorations (minimal that they are) are up, and there have been yummy candles burning. Right now, there is gingerbread in the oven for tomorrow's knitting Christmas party. I've even managed to get some laundry done ( Read more... ) -
Columbus 2010
Well, I find myself back in my own home, two weeks after I left for the good ol' US of A. This year was my trip out for not only Thanksgiving, but the big birthday celebration for both of my mom's parents, who turned 85 (Grandpa, October) and 80 (Grandma, just this month) this year. Bath for Guy Fawkes night
This week was the annual crazy British holiday known as Guy Fawkes night. It fell on Friday this year, but that didn't stop people from setting off fireworks all week, and indeed, most of last week as well. Everyone loves a good explosion, I guess. Really good news
I will be the first to admit that I'm not proud of the fact that I need to rely on government funds to have money in my pocket. I will also be the first to say that I need that money, and have fought against the decision which would have taken it away from me ( Read more... ) -
An observation
I've come to the conclusion that if teenagers think they have angst, they are nothing next to the twentysomethings.
In other news, I slept through the night last night for the first time in ages. Well, almost. I woke up for about 20 min and yelled at my body till it decided to go back to sleep. Yay me. :)

Last night, I actually didn't sleep at all. This gives me the chance to force my body back into something resembling a normal sleep cycle. So instead of sleeping the day away, I have tried to keep busy and taken only a two 2-hour naps, and so far it's worked. I'm definitely feeling the strain of missing a night's sleep, but not overmuch.

Depression and insomnia are horrible things. They make you think about yourself in ways you really don't want to, usually at times you really don't want to either.
