Went to Washington DC for a week.... and it wasnt nearly long enough to see and do everything! Holy moly, there are a LOT of museums! We did get to see a lot of things though, including MY NAME in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. (Its in connection with the Hyperbolic Crochet Reef exhibit!) Charles the Hornworm is now Charles the Carolina Sphinx Moth. As I enter this, Charles has emerged from the soil, and his wings are expanding. We found a Tobacco Hornworm on the jalepeno plant. The jalepeno looks very sad and naked now, but I think it will recover. The Hornworm has been christened Charles, and lived for the last week in a pickle jar in our kitchen. We fed him leaves from the tomato plant, and he must have been the most spoiled Hornworm on the planet. I did some reading ( Read more... )

Still growing stuff. The cotton is puttering along, although I lost three. I have giant Mongolian sunflowers coming up. Finally little tomatoes coming in. My cucumber has tons of flowers, but is stubbornly not producing actual cucumbers. Growing, growing, growing ( Read more... )

I'm growing cotton. Well, I'm really growing lots and lots of stuff (see previous post), but I'm also growing cotton. I'm stupid happy about this. I dont even know why.
