Hello, world!

I am in Hawai'i, writing from an iMac in a gay bar on Waikiki beach. :) I arrived yesterday and saw a few beachy sites, but basically began my exploration in earnest today. Wow. I just saw a terrific accident, right in front of me at an intersection. Two cars passing in opposite directions under green lights struck both driver-side front corners at a relative velocity of probably 50 miles per hour; I think one of them was turning left and didn't yield.
