Here I am in a town with thousands of students and I can't think of anyone I can go and actually spend time with instead of staring at a (computer/TV) screen, like I have done for the past week, with two brief exceptions.

Don't talk to me about people. I know I shouldn't let this stuff get me down but it does. The other day I was just walking to the shops, minding my own business, when these two teenage boys came up to me with the obvious and executed intent of ridiculing me because I was wearing a skirt. I made my probably most expensive purchase all year (in fact second ever, if rent payments don't count) today. I was thinking about what friendship means. What are friends? What constitutes friendship? Is it sufficient for people to enjoy spending time with each other? Does it require them actively seeking out oppertunities to meet up in some way, shape of form, for some shared activity or simply to talk?
