1) Why I like him/her. 2) Why I dislike him/her. 3) What plot I'd use in a fic about him/her. 4) What superpower he/she would have. 5) Who would be his/her ideal partner.
I like your Dean thoughts. I kind of like his woobie-ness, myself, but I'm an angsty-schmoop adict (which is why SPN owns the small remnant of my soul *NSYNC doesn't), so there you go. I agree Dean could never stop long enough to fall for anyone, just one more reason I support Wincest. Who else could he have?
Not sure if I agree entirely on the empathy bit... ..the whole part in Scarecrow where he's upset with himself because he can't get the nigh-doomed couple to listen to him and knew that Sam would, EASILY, rang very true for me. On the other hand, the times when he sets his snarky facade-armor aside (usually for a small child), his empathy is tangible and amazing. I think he does have said empathy, but his own issues keep him from accessing or utilizing it without subconscious motivators (children, his family in need) as much as he might otherwise
( ... )
I'm so slackerly. At one point, I'd come up with a list of reasons why I thought Dean could (at least in fanon) have latent empathy, but finding it would be a hassle. It was based on events in about four episodes, and it didn't suggest his empathy was useful--more that he was affected by emotions than that he could control them or react therapeutically. Maybe that perception's helped by the fact that Sam creeps me out and Dean doesn't most times. *grin*
I'd originally said in my answer that Dean would need to come to the aid of someone in his family to use the power, and then wouldn't be willing to admit anything unusual had happened. Great minds think alike!
I did some noodling quite a while ago, when the fandom was first kicking off, about the idea of role reversal. I don't know how close I'd feel compelled to keep to the original plotline if I wrote it. Dean did say in at least one episode (I think it was mentioned in Bugs, or Skin?) that he'd hoped to attend college but couldn't.
I have it written down for one of my wtf27 prompts, if ever I get to it. I've discussed it with a couple friends and we're all very psyched about the idea. *grin*
