Old, Broken

Jun 11, 2008 15:46

The hip problem I'm been suffering for the past few months turn out to be due to an ``obviously'' herniated L4-L5 disk (I should see if I can get copies of the MRI). I'm scheduled for back surgery next Monday.

(oops, it was L4-L5)

Wow. Have a...not too bad surgery? I guess they probably don't come in "good".

I think you can break your back even when you're young, though.

I hope the surgery goes well and your back improves quickly afterwards!

Oh, man. Definitely best of luck to you and Elise and I will keep you in our thoughts. Let us know where you're going to be. We can't visit, but we can send you something to get your mind off the hospital food. :)

Barring complications, it'll be outpatient surgery. It turns out that it takes WAAY longer to recover from the general anesthetic than to cut me open, shove around some muscle, slice off some gristle, and almost everything back up.

Seriously, the guy does like 8-10 of these a day, twice a week, every week. Crazy.
