Today was the first of two major demos I am part of this month. We just wrapped up with Paul Otellini (COO of Intel). In the beginning he was a little skeptical of the overal project (Public Health for the Internet), but by the end he was extremeley excited and indirectly cited that my technology (PIER) was one of key and exciting parts ( Read more... )

The only surprise was one refreshing good review. The other was overly negative, probably a competitor. They said "The authors try to emphasize too much on the importance of a distributed database like PIER". Most likely the reviewer is working on a different type of system and feels threatened by a database system ( Read more... )

Last night I noticed the power supply fan in my home server (zeta) was making noise. I figured the fan would give out in another week or two. However, I woke up this morning and quickly noticed the machine was off. It kicked the bucket. Okay, switch the network to the backup router and add another thing to my list for today.
