As I've gotten older I've accepted that to some degree I'm gonna have less energy and motivation to do the things that got me up and out of the house in earlier years. However I feel like I've gone further than that...like I'm accepting that there's not much more for me, or that the effort doesn't justify the outcome for many things. I only seem to be angry these days. My roommate watching tv or playing games until late at night....making it difficult to fall asleep. The constant traffic in the area, forcing me to stay home (or in the same location) between 2:30 and 7 every day that I don't work. The assholes I work with. I have to say this also: the shooting in Florida this last weekend genuinely made me tear up. And anyone who knows me knows I'm not the softest guy. I never cry, but this brought me awfully close. It's difficult to endure when you see people with equal or lesser potential advance further than you do. In my job I see people who are complete assholes lording it over me as though they regale in subordinating me....and I really don't see how they are that much more qualified than I am. I've been staying at my parents' house for the last week or so while they're away on vacation. I don't recall hearing so many sirens and police/first responders in the distance. It's tough going to work when it's 65+ and sunny out. These are by far the best days of this young year, and I only have one of them off (yesterday). I'm anticipating working 6 days the next couple weeks to "pay for" having taken vacation earlier this month. I suppose at this age I shouldn't be surprised when no one is available to share a day off with me. And I'll probably get several calls on Friday and/or Saturday night asking what I'm up to, though everyone knows I work weekends.
