Chapter 6 "Ahhh! I'm so excited and nervous!" Hikaru shouted, earning a smack from Kota.
"Shut up, Hikaru! We've been performing on stage for three years already and you're still nervous!?" Kota scolded while staring at him in disbelief.
Hikaru rubbed the spot that was hit by Kota and flashed a silly grin while the other members just laughed.
"But honestly speaking, I'm also feeling a little nervous too," Keito admitted and Kota stared at him in surprised.
"Are you serious?" Kota asked in disbelief and Keito nodded in embarrassment.
Kota let out a sigh and stuck both his hands on his hips. Just then, Yuusuke entered the dance studio.
"Guys, please gather here," he called out and the members hurried over.
Yuusuke looked around and his eyebrows furrowed.
"Where is Nakano-kun?" he asked, looking at the members.
They looked around and shrugged.
"Not sure," Yuto said, looking at Yuuri then at Yuusuke.
"I thought I just saw him a moment ago?" Kei asked, looking around.
At that moment, the door was bang opened, revealing a panting Ryoko.
"Ah! There he is!" Yuya exclaimed and all eyes were on her.
Yuuri jogged over and dragged Ryoko to the other members.
"Where did you go, Nakano-kun?" Yuusuke asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ryoko tried to speak but she was trying to breathe in some air at the same time. Seeing that, Yuusuke decided to let it go.
"Ah, never mind. Nakano-kun, please do inform your band mates if you're going somewhere else next time," Yuusuke reprimanded and Ryoko nodded her head.
Then Yuusuke took out a piece of paper and placed it on the table.
"This is the room arrangement for all of you. This time round, we decided to keep the same pair together even when changing hotels," Yuusuke informed, tapping on the paper.
The members nodded and leaned over to look at the arrangement.
"Oh! I'm with Yuto this time round!" Hikaru said, placing his right index finger on the row of names.
"Ah! I'm with Inoo-chan again!" Yuya shouted, giving Kei a high-five.
"Eh? I'm with the youngest member, Ryutaro!" Kota exclaimed, looking around for him.
When he spotted Ryutaro being squeezed out of the mini crowd, Kota headed over and gave him a bear hug. Ryutaro was startled by it and tried to push Kota away.
"Why are you hugging me?" Ryutaro exclaimed softly with a slight frown and Kota beamed at him.
"We are a pair this time round! The oldest and the youngest!" he exclaimed happily and Ryutaro just chuckled at his reaction.
"Hmm…oh! I'm with Keito! Keito~," Daiki called out, squeezing himself out of the members to find Keito.
"I'm here!"
Hearing the voice, Daiki immediately turned around. Keito was sitting on the chair, waving at him with one hand while the other was holding onto his guitar. Daiki smiled and jogged over.
"We're a pair this time round!" Daiki said with the same smile plastered across his face.
Keito looked at him, raising his eyebrows.
"Oh, really?" he asked and Daiki nodded his head.
Since most of the members had checked who their partners were, the crowd had dispersed, leaving Ryoko, Ryosuke and Yuuri standing there.
"I think I'll be paired up with Chii again," Ryosuke thought as he tried to find his name and his eyes widened.
"Eh?" he blurted out loudly, gaining everyone's attention.
"Ito-san, Yuma is joining us too?" Ryosuke asked.
Yuusuke nodded his head.
"I've forgotten to tell you all about it. Yes, Nakayama-kun will be joining us this time round too," Yuusuke replied just before his phone rang and he went outside to answer the call.
"What is it, Yama-chan?" Yuuri asked as he tried to peer over Ryosuke's shoulder.
"Chii is with Yuma," Ryosuke said and Yuuri's eyes widened.
"Eh, really?" Yuuri asked and Ryosuke nodded, still searching for his name.
"Finally I'm taking a break from sharing a room with Yama-chan!" Yuuri joked and Ryosuke shot him a glare.
"Is it that bad to share a room with me?" Ryosuke scolded and Yuuri just laughed at him.
On the other hand, Ryoko appeared to be in deep thoughts.
"So Yaotome-kun is with Nakajima-kun, Inoo-kun with Takaki-kun, Yabu-kun with Morimoto-kun, Arioka-kun with Okamoto-kun and Chinen-kun with Nakayama-kun," she counted with her fingers mentally and she looked up.
"Then that left Yamada-kun and me. There’s no way Yuusuke-kun will allow me to share a room with Yamada-kun."
Then her eyes widened.
"Or will he all-"
"Eh? I'm with Nakano-kun..."
Everyone stared at him, including Ryoko.
"I-I'm with w-who..?" Ryoko asked slowly, hoping that she had heard it wrongly.
Ryosuke turned around and looked at her.
"You are sharing a room with me, Nakano-kun," Ryosuke repeated and Ryoko's eyes widened.
"Impossible...," she thought in disbelief, tearing her gaze away from him.
Just then, her eyes met Yuuri's and she could sense horror in his eyes.
"Erm...Chinen-kun, can you follow me to somewhere for a moment?" Ryoko asked which Yuuri nodded his head and followed her out of the studio.
After they had left, the rest of the members crowded over Ryosuke. Daiki placed his arm around Ryosuke's shoulders and smiled at him.
"It's good for you to share a room with Ryo-chan," Daiki said and Ryosuke clicked his tongue.
"I would rather sleep alone than sharing with him," Ryosuke scoffed and Daiki eyed him suspiciously.
"Sleep alone? Don't you try to lie to us, Yama-chan. I know that you hate to sleep alone," Daiki teased and Ryosuke glared at him.
"Who says so? I can sleep alone! I just don't like to sleep without lights!" Ryosuke retorted and Daiki was about to fight back when Kei stopped them.
"Okay! Stop arguing!" Kei scolded and the both of them looked away, puffing their cheeks.
Kei clicked his tongue and placed his hands on Ryosuke's shoulders.
"Ryo-chan helped us or rather, he had helped you to be yourself again. He had also brought you closer to us," Kei paused and Ryosuke turned around to face him.
He shifted his gaze from Kei to each of the other members and finally back to him again.
"All of us had already become good friends with Ryo-chan and only you haven't. So why not take this chance and get to know him well. After all, he was the one who had helped you the most," Kei continued and withdrew his hands.
Ryosuke blinked twice.
-Flashback-
"From the way you taught me the dance moves, I know you're trying to find the similar feeling you have when you were dancing with Chinen-kun last time," she said and swung her legs lightly.
“Only you’re able to overcome this mentally and physically. The others can only try to talk sense into you."
Ryosuke stared at her and at the same time, Ryoko turned around to look at him as well.
"The other members truly do care about you and even asked me to bring back their old Yamada-kun. I'm only doing this because they were really worried, especially Chinen-kun. He was blaming himself for the cause of your current attitude," she paused and stopped swinging her legs.
"All you need to remember is that no matter what, Chinen-kun will always be with us. He will never leave just because he isn't able to perform on the stage. Just keep that in mind."
Before Ryosuke could say anything, the train finally arrived. Ryoko smiled at him and got up from the seat.
"Let’s go! Or else, we're going to be really late!" she said and walked towards the train door.
-End of Flashback-
Without knowing, he nodded his head and the other members smiled.
"Yosh! That's our Yama-chan!" Yuya shouted and the members cheered happily.
Ryosuke flashed a small smile.
"Maybe at the same time, I can try to confirm my suspicion too."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ryoko pushed open the door and a bright beam shone onto their eyes. She walked over to the railing opposite the door and placed her arms on it. She let out a heavy sigh.
"I can't believe that Yuusuke-kun allowed me to share a room with Yamada-kun!" Ryoko said angrily. Yuuri stood beside her and leaned his arms on the railing too.
"Yuusuke-kun? He knew you're a girl?" Yuuri asked as he raised his eyebrows and Ryoko nodded.
"He's my benefactor. If it's not for him, I wouldn't be what I am now," Ryoko answered while staring at the sky.
"He’s your benefactor?"
"Yeah," Ryoko replied and leaned her back against the railing.
“My parents divorced when I was four. They didn't need to fight over the custody for me because my Otou-san would never want to take care of me. In his eyes, I’m not his daughter. After he left, my Kaa-san fell into serious depression. Thankfully, she got out of it before she starts to do dangerous things such as committing suicide. Around four years ago, she was diagnosed with early stage of womb cancer and after doing the treatment, her body was very weak. That's when I told my best friend, Mi-chan, and her Otou-san which is Yuusuke-kun, decided to bring us into his family."
Yuuri's gaze softened as he stared at her. Without knowing, Yuuri stood in front of her and pulled her into a hug.
"You had gone through so much, Ryo-chan," he whispered softly into her ear before tightening the hug.
On the other hand, Ryoko was surprised by it. Feeling that the hug was tightened, her cheeks turned pink and slowly, she placed her hands on his back, hugging him back.
Just then at the corner of her eyes, she saw a shadow at the door and before she could squint her eyes, it disappeared almost immediately. Furrowing her eyebrows, she broke off the hug and turned around, placing her arms back on the railing.
"Ah, I’m sorry. I didn't mean to..d-do..that," Yuuri stuttered slightly and his cheeks were tinted with a hint of red.
Ryoko shook her head and flashed a smile.
"No, it’s okay."
Just then, the shadow at the door flashed through her mind again and she furrowed her eyebrows.
Was someone listening to our conversation earlier on?
