Aside from all that, the medication taking is not so much happening anymore.  The non-stimulant kind didn't really work out (for reasons available upon your asking) and a re-attempt, semi-subversive, is not really working out either. (Present tense?) So I'm not sure what to do about that. Apparently, there are some ideas about diet, non-pejorative ( Read more... )

I forget, had you tried both Ritalin and Adderall? Ritalin had a really sharp up and down for me, but Adderall has been much smoother and easy to skip when I don't need it.

I'd really recommend it before writing them all off. Ritalin was nasty nasty nastiness for me, but Adderall has done wonders.

diet and exercise made a tremendous difference for me, when i was working hard at it. the less-sugar-and-caffeine route is probably a really good idea. i read somewhere that a significant portion of anxiety disorders are probably hypersensitivities to sugar and caffeine masquerading as something else.

behavior stuff i have found to be of 2 types (for me), one of which works sometimes and one of which doesn't. the "think a certain way to fool your own mind" way does not work - most smart people are, i think, too smart for that. the "systematically show yourself how your bad emotions and/or procrastination are illogical and not-smart" helps a lot more - like, at least sometimes you are smart enough to talk yourself out of things like that.
