“So, this Kaoru chick’s a friend of yours, huh?”

“Patient,” Megumi corrected frostily, doing her best to look irritated at the intrusion of the two armed soldiers in her clinic.  It wasn’t hard.  Kaoru’s reckless actions combined with Sagara Sanosuke’s abject stupidity meant her patience was already stretched to breaking point.  She tapped her ( Read more... )

Hi! I just discovered the LJ, after two long years of checking only your profile ff.net for updates. I feel a bit stupid but I ended up here and that's good ( ... )

hi - i found this on fanfiction.net and have been completely hooked since. i realise you might not have any more interest in continuing the story, but I thought i'd just drop by and tell you that this is one of the best rk fics i've read. it's so rare to come across a writer in this fandom who has such a masterful grasp on prose + your characterisations are amazing and the pacing is spot-on. i love the background behind this AU; the depth of your imagination and your ability to express it so vividly is incredible. it'd be a shame to leave this story incomplete. it was getting so exciting! not sure if my two cents is enough to convince you to pick it up again, but if one day you're motivated enough to continue, i'll be waiting! :)

Hey. :D Thanks so much for the compliment! I often get lazy and don't respond to people's comments until I put the next entry up, but that could be a while away ...so I thought I'd let you know that I haven't abandoned this story and I have every interest in continuing. ^^ I've just been hit with some bad writer's block of late, hee. Hope you continue to enjoy it!

hooray!! that's good to hear.
i feel your pain. writer's block can be a bitch. dunno if this helps, but what usually helps me is either starting small (rambling, noting vivid images, fragments of dialogue, etc.) or focusing on the big picture by outlining various plot ideas.
hope you can figure out what's plaguing you and break through it. i know a lot of people will be overjoyed to see your next chapter. best of luck!

;_; A while? Awww, damn...

I've just been rereading several chapters of Zai because I'm writing a virtual-reality kinda story and wanted to get in the mood. I'd forgotten how this chapter ended, and now I'm dying again to find out why Megumi slapped Kenshin! xD I can just tell that she's about to give him a good telling-off and it's gonna be hilarious. Right? 8D

Anyway, good luck on beating your writer's block, I know how much that sucks.

Oh, phew, there are actually more chapters here than on fanfiction.net :D
There are so many things I'm totally curious about:
First of all if Kaoru will be okay or if there will be any lasting damage. I absolutely love the hallucination part and I can't wait to find out how she'll react when she finally sees Kenshin again. Will she think he's just another hallucination of Battousai or will she recognize him (if she's capable of recognizing anyone, that is, of course).
Then Yahiko. I can't imagine him being rescued in any way in time. But maybe if Aoshi or Kenshin help...
Talking about Aoshi I can't really wait for the confrontation with Misao, either, once he hears what she's been up to. I doubt the silent treatment will continue long after that lol.

All in all this story, and especially your writing style, is absolutely amazing.

:D

Was rereading this, and just wanted to say that this story sucks me in every time. You have brilliant imagination. Best of luck writing upcoming chapters!

Latecomer to the fandom and the fic. Just stopping by to say that this? Rocks. So. Hard. I've never had this much pleasure watching a story unfold since, well, Jinchuu itself.

The real gem is the way you explore relationships and dynamics that canon doesn't provide - the alliance/friendship between Kenshin and Aoshi, the dance of wits between Kenshin and Shishio / Sojirou. And the knowledge that Shishio's rise to power is caused partially by Kenshin's absence is such a sweet parallel to Watsuki's canon. Also, Misao kickassery. So much love.

I don't know if you plan to continue Zai, I sincerely hope you will, but regardless--thanks for writing this. Seriously.

Hey, this is whiteadelphi on a different account. First, thanks for the comment! I've been trying to get the motivation together to work on this (or in fact write at all) and your review was really well timed and I really appreciate it. :D I did actually mention in my private journal recently I was trying to come back to this-- my main job involves a lot of typing and I got sucked into roleplaying on LJ besides and it seems all my motivation to write anything at all died quite a while ago.

But I do love this story, and as soon as I can get myself organised enough to even maybe just write a little bit each night, Zaibatsu Project is the first thing I'll be working on, because it was a LOT of fun to write and I really want to get it to an end. I'm glad you enjoy it, and hopefully I won't make you wait too long? But yes, thank you. This comment made my evening.

Haha, glad to know my fangirlish rambling can be useful for once. <3

And yeah, I understand the whole work / real life thing. I've been in a pretty similar situation. I hope you can get that mojo back, because your writing's awesome.
