I just watched Jesus Camp. It's frightening,and I highly recommend it. It features Ted Haggard before his gay drug addict scandal, as well as the most brainwashed children under 10 that I've ever seen, which will so clearly be committing hate crimes before they're even legally adults.

I stuck my foot in a hole on my way down the stairs and sprained my ankle today. Of course, since it's my left foot, and I have limited mobility and weight bearing, I can't ride my motorcycle (probably until the rain returns).

I am interrupting my scheduled release of updates regarding stunt days, because I have something interesting to talk about instead. Most people have heard of or are aware of townships in South Africa. They have a reputation as being very poor and full of people that are jobless, etc, and being places where whites are perhaps unwelcome or something ( Read more... )

Our first (and, not entirely unrelatedly, last) day of taking "taxis" was rather a hot and uncomfortable Wednesday last week. So, officially in Africa. Right now we're connected through a vodaphone external wireless gprs/3g card, on which we only have 500mb for a month and four people using it. I won't be posting any photos until I can get to an internet cafe or something similar. It's very hot here, and it's been really interesting meeting and learning about family ( Read more... )

I had intended to compose a long post before I departed, but I no longer have the time. I'm leaving for Seattle in a few hours and then flying to South Africa in the early morning.
