how sweet is it to be loved by you!

Tonight I went for one of my bigger swims (to you know, prepare for my big 5k) and I'm going at a good pace, feeling fine, and then I'm told I must exit the pool as some kid puked in it. I really needed to do a big swim this week, too, but perhaps I can squeeze it in on Sunday when I will swim an Olympic size pool for the first time! :O ( Read more... )

Sadly, I think my grammar was poor when I was that age too. And you think it's bad when grade 7 or 8 kids write like that ... I know so many adults who make the same mistakes -- UNIVERSITY EDUCATED adults. One thing that irks the HELL out of me is comma splices. I can't stand comma splices. Out of all of the grammatical uh-ohs I don't know why I hate this one.

Comma splices don't bug me too much because that's kind of how people talk sometimes. So I can understand if people are doing so in a blog and such, but they would bug me if it's something that is expected to be at a professional level. There were also comma splices left right and centre at the science fair as well.

BLAH! I don't know how through the years that people don't learn how to use them properly?! Doesn't it drive English teachers nuts-o?

You know what? You're right. The only reason people write comma splices is because they are trying to write as they would speak. It doesn't make any sense! It makes me understand even less why I don't like splices. Maybe I just hate commas?

I don't know what it is about English that people don't get. The fact that people can go their whole lives without discovering spelling, grammar, and style completely baffles me.

Haha, why would you hate commas? Silly.

Spelling and grammar I agree with. I have no sense of style simply because I suck at the English language. But spelling and grammar are essentially just rules.

One time at my friend's apartment's pool, a little girl pooed while we were in it. True story!

Apparently a couple of weeks ago they had to do the same thing for a kid pooing in it as well.

it's sorta understandable (but still annoying) when younger kids do it. it's just plain sad when your classmates in upper-year university classes are writing "their definitately more affective then it's whatevers"... ACK!

Yes, it is sorta understandable. But yes, people in university and beyond STILL make those mistakes!

Brand New has a bunch of brand new (ha) demos! I can send them to you if you'd like?

puns = fun.

YES, please send them to me? How or how did you get your hands on them and is their website updated at all?

I'm not sure whether their website has been updated or not because I don't regularly check band sites (other than Something Corporate and Jack's anyway ;)). I got the demos from a song sharing community on GreatestJournal. Message me next time you're online, and I'll send them your way!

My personal pet peeve is "you're" and "your". It is especially funny when I get told "your a dumbass" or "your stupid"... so ironic.

I was totally gonna post:
"I think your being to hard on these kids.

Man, I'm hilarious!"
I bet less than 5% of people our age use "you're."
I write "to" for "too" sometimes, but only when I'm typing.
