Real men do not fear vasectomies. ;-) My new BF is getting one next month as a matter of fact. (Knowing this makes my recent "Quote of the Millennium" post a lot clearer now, doesn't it?)

At the risk of sounding overly feminist, the problem with most female BC methods is they're far more invasive, have longer recovery times, and can have greater, more numerous negative side effects than a vasectomy, which is an extremely simple, relatively safe procedure from which one should fully recover in less than a week. Sorry, but he needs to bite the bullet on this one. Either that, or let him wait until you hit menopause. ;-)

Well, I have experienced the Paraguard this year and I ended up hating it. I was one of those rare women apparently that did not take to a IUD ( ... )

So, my hubby wasn't at all chicken about getting snipped. (One major hurdle out of the way!) Still, the procedure was amazingly quick (the doc was halfway done before hubs realized he'd started) and left only moderate bruising. You're looking at the man experiencing literally one to three days of what we women go through every month for at least that period of time. And since I've been bleeding since I was 13, I'm not so sympathetic to any guy complaining. You know ( ... )

Thank you for posting this! I'm actually thinking about all of this myself. 36, childless and no intention of changing that. My bf actually wants a vasectomy, but he's really young and I think he should wait before making that decision. Dunno. I really want off the pill soon, though. Sorry I have no answers. Keep us posted.

I have the paragard and love it. I think i've had it for 5 years or so. My period has always been erratic w/r/t flow and cramping, and that remained the same--sometimes light and sometimes heavy. I do get some occasional "twinges", but since I can't handle hormones or afford a tubal, I'm willing to put up with it.
