I spent the last 2 days at a seminar, learning how to better communicate with my dogs and how to relax/destress them so they can learn.  I'm still slow and clumsy, but I think I'll improve with practice. Penny and I are both exhausted; all that learning is hard work!

Saturday and Sunday morning Flyer and I go to another trial to get that all-

It sounds as if destressing the dogs was a little stressful. ;)

Wow, you are going to have a busy weekend. Good idea to conserve your strength until then!

Well, the first 2 days of the 5 were spent showing Flyer at our 1st rally trial. Flyball practice the next day, and then the seminar Monday and Tuesday.

Penny is quite possibly the smartest dog I've ever known, but she gets so stressed and worried about making a mistake when we go to classes that she shuts down. Her brain just isn't online, and she can't learn. We worked on teaching her how to relax and calm herself, so she could learn new things. We're just at the beginning, but I think it's working.

Is it another silky? Or some other breed? If she's new, she may just need time to acclimate to her new world.

If you have any friends with very calm dogs, see if you can have them and the new kid in the same place. Don't force any interaction; just let her get used to the other dog being nearby. It's a slow process
