All of the above! Whatever are your favorites! But that's why I want to know why they are your favorites, so I know what kind of bar they are :) (feel free to give me more than 3! I was just trying not to overwhelm) :)
Sample in Cobble Hill -- it's narrow but deep, if you squeeze past the people at the bar there's often room at the tables in the back, classy, wood decor, good and inexpensive wine, cute cocktails, tasty cheese and meats and other little snacks, and the bartenders are super nice.
Johnny's -- dive bars make me happy and I've done some stupid ass shit there, so that works.
I went to Moonshine last night which is essentially in the Brooklyn Battery tunnel in Red Hook/Carroll Gardens/whatever that's called. I liked it and they serve wine in airplane bottles. Also it's right next to Jalopy where they have live music frequently.
I would say mine change too, but right now I like:
Zanzibar - because there are a million hidey-hole places in there and it doesn't get busy until late and it has Riesling and they give me free chicken wings.
Wheeltapper Pub in the Fitzpatrick hotel - huge outdoor space out back, genuinely Irish staff. Used to be my after-work bar and have had some crazy times there.
Gilbey's and Club 21 - tied. Because I've been spending a lot of time at both lately, and keep going back, so they must be lovable. My current go-to Astoria spots. And because the cute Czech bartender at Club 21 flirts with me and gives me free shots of the "Czech version of Goldschlager", which I assure you is fantastic and not actually in any way like Goldschlager.
yeah, it is. It used to be a members-only Czech club thing, which closed and now they've got the bar. It's pretty dead during the week, because apparently non-Astorians think the Beer Garden is ok, but 21st street is scary? and they do brunch on weekends.
you know I love Bulgarian bar (dancing, fun, insane), Johnny's (best bar ever man), The Patriot (great jukebox, cheap, big), rodeo bar (good live music, tequila, throwing peanuts on the floor is fun), Bob's & Sapphire for dancing...
