SNOWFLAKES
Jeb shivered as he tried to quietly push into the room. He'd been out with Harry most of the day, trying to help repair a roof at the edge of the village and it was well after dark by the time they'd made it back.

As soon as the suns set, the temperature began to fall. "I wouldn't be surprised to see snow in the morning," Harry had said before sending Jeb home for the evening. "Stay warm," he offered as Jeb turned and headed for the tavern with a quick step.

Ted met him at the back door with two heavy blankets. "I didn't want to disturb the girls," he said with a nod. Jeb accepted the blankets with a smile and pushed the door shut as Ted slipped out to the comforts of his own warm bed.

It wasn't horribly cold in the room, but he didn't know what point became too cold for a baby. The blankets were far too heavy to cover her for the night, but he wanted to make sure she was warm. Leaning over the crib, he blinked at the sight of an empty space and twisted around.

Tapping DG's foot through the two blankets he'd just spread out over the bed, he watched as she awoke with a breath and looked up from underneath the blankets. "Where's Baby?” he asked, nodding toward the empty crib.

"She's here," DG said, half-asleep. Jeb moved around to his side of the bed and realized that she was there, next to DG and probably quite warm. He quickly changed into his bed clothes and climbed in under the blankets.

"You stink," DG said with a smile.

"Sorry," he said honestly.

"'s okay," she breathed.

"Go to sleep," he whispered, pressing a light kiss to her forehead.
